Iris Princess, 12x9; 16x12
Prints available in 12×9, 16×12
This 24 x 18 piece was a challenge for me in many ways. I've never worked on this large a scale or used oil pastels to create a lifelike portrait—until 𝘐𝘳𝘪𝘴 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴. Completing this painting took 20 days, as it was necessary to meet an approaching deadline. It was fun to use multiple references here, something I haven't dabbled with yet. The flowers themselves are from my childhood yard, the stems inspired by Van Gogh's 𝘐𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘦𝘴. Little me with the crown is a nod to my earliest dream: to be a princess. I was also able to find a picture of me on the family laptop in this very corner of our orange living room. All these components that were once living in my head now exist as a painting!
